about us

Nothing is plumb, level or square.

We met in July 2005, after a mutual friend decided we'd be perfect for each other. We doubted her sanity, but turns out she was right. We were pretty much inseparable from that point on.

In April 2006, Brandon proposed and we got married that September. We bought 1928 Bungalow in April 2007 after a fast and furious search throughout Atlanta for our dream bungalow (it doesn't exist in our price range), and moved in sometime in late May. We wanted something we could renovate ourselves, but decided we weren't sure we wanted to spend years living in chaos.

We chose 1928 Bungalow because it offered us a chance to restore some of its original charm and challenges our handyman skills, but it had been modernized enough that we wouldn't need marriage counseling the first year. In May 2009, we doubled the occupancy of 1928 Bungalow with the birth of our twin girls, Hadley and Emerson.

This blog is an attempt to document our joys and frustrations in the most recent phase of our lives--home ownership! Our new home is a 1928 bungalow in a great little neighborhood in East Point, GA.

We bought the house from a guy who pretty much flipped it, meaning he did some really nice things (thanks for the granite & stainless kitchen!), as well as some really crappy things (why did you cover up the attic vents?). His intentions? Good. His contractor? Not so much.

We hope to restore some original charm to the house, as well as update some things that have been neglected. And we hope...insane though it might be...to do it all ourselves.

Read along as we attempt to figure it all out…
